Dear Families,
On Monday we made sweet potatoes. We washed, boiled, skinned, and
mixed them. We added some of the butter we had made on Friday.
Everyone had a tiny taste before going out to play.
On Tuesday we cracked open eight more coconuts to use later for an art
project. The children helped shake all the water out and scoop out the
meat. Of course, we ate some too. Coconuts are tough nuts to crack!
We practiced singing Way Down Yonder By The Coconut Tree, and
pretended to hang our family coconuts in preparation for the family
feast.
On Wednesday morning we mixed and baked Jiffy cornbread muffins.
Parents, grandparents, and siblings came to help hang the fruits of
our labor (of love) on the family coconut tree. It was splendid.
Have a stuffed weekend,
Therese
