Name, Name, What’s Your Name?

Dear Parents,

We began our week picking up where we left off last week. We played with our play dough and mixed more colors. Some children pressed patterns onto their play dough from the table while others practiced rolling theirs into balls or slugs.
We sang Name, Name, What’s Your Name? and read Spot Goes To School, The Colors Of Us, All By Myself, How To Be, You Matter, Once Upon A Potty, Carry Me, and Good Thing You’re Not An Octopus. We counted the octopus legs.

We’ve also been singing The Drum Goes Round and Round. Everyone gets a turn to beat the hand drum when we sing their name. This song promotes many smiles and some head shaking.

We sang Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes. Afterwards we talked about where our ears are, how many ears we have, and how many hands? We felt our ears and moved our hair out of the way to see and feel where our mask loops go.

Someone said their ears are easy to see because they have short hair. Someone else said we use two hands to put on our masks.

Please let your children practice putting on their own masks. Maybe they could help put parents’ masks on to get a better idea of how the loops go around the ears.
Wednesday we played in the sandbox and jungle gym during our visit from the DOH. We passed. Yay!

We played with shaving cream on Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday it was white but on Thursday we added red food coloring. Then we added yellow. The children noticed a new color emerge. Many drew circles in their shaving cream and used fingers or fingernails to create patterns. Some noticed that their fingernails made a scratchy sound.

Friday while playing at the water bin with boats and water wheels, someone turned smiling and said, “I’m feeling a little happy.” Someone else while watching and waiting for a turn said, “I think they’re having fun!” They were.

It was a fun week!

Have a sunny weekend,

Therese
